Some dogs never stop scratching — chewing at their paws, worrying the same patch of skin, awake at 3am doing it again. If that sounds like your dog, we're looking for 120 of them.
We're here to help — and we think science can too. Welcome to our latest study, where caring pet parents like you help us advance research on real-world animal health.
At Treat, we run real-world research studies with pets living at home. To date, we've completed 30+ clinical studies, helping pet health companies develop better products while generating meaningful insights for pet parents.
This one is for a pet wellness brand with a daily supplement that you add to your dog's food to support healthy skin and help with itching. We want to know whether it actually works — measured properly, in real homes, on real dogs.
The powder pairs omega-3 fatty acids with two plant-derived compounds studied for their effect on itch, plus a prebiotic fibre for the gut. Your dog wears a small activity tracker throughout, so alongside what you tell us we can see the scratching, the restlessness and the sleep that owners often miss.

Over 56 days we measure how much your dog itches — first for two weeks with nothing changed, then across six weeks on a daily supplement. We combine your own ratings, a validated itch score, a behaviour questionnaire, continuous activity and sleep data from the collar, and two at-home gut samples, so the answer rests on more than impressions.
(Basically: does this powder help itchy dogs scratch less?)
Format: 56-day study (14-day baseline + 42 days feeding the supplement)
This is a controlled scientific study. Dogs are assigned completely at random, and nobody running it knows who got what — not you, not us. Only the sponsor holds the key to which product is active and which is placebo, and it stays sealed until the study ends. That is what makes the answer trustworthy.
